Navigating unknown desert roads under the stars. I recently took a week long trip to explore Death Valley. I find that I am naturally drawn to wide open empty spaces. I feel at home in the solitude places like this provide. A time to look inward and let my creativity loose
I drove the 12 hours from Bend, Oregon in one day just to get to the park. This shot was from my second night in Death Valley. I decided to drive out to the Joshua Tree forest on the western edge of the NP. Not a soul around!
This is a 60 image blend all shot at ISO 1250, f/2.8, 30 sec with a Rokinon 10mm on a Nikon D5300 and edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. Foreground illuminated with a head lamp and I drove back and forth a few times to light up the dirt road.
I had planned on taking 400 images to create longer star trails but my camera stopped at 60 for some reason. Not sure why as I had a full battery...pretty happy with the final result though.
